Summary:
Anyone who has grown up in church and has asked difficult questions about faith and God has been told to “just believe it” at some time or another without being encouraged to search out answers. Sean and Jonathan understand that. Sean was encouraged by his father Josh McDowell to search for answers when he had doubts. Asking questions is an important step in searching for answers. It is important that answers be found. This book can be looked at as a beginner’s guide to finding answers to the questions about scientific, philosophical, moral and biblical challenges to the Christian faith.

It is divided into two sections: dealing with scientific and philosophical challenges to the Christian faith, and responding to moral and biblical challenges to that faith. Each segment of the book has a series of questions that are often posed by atheists, agnostics, or anyone who struggles with believing there is a God who loves us and wants us to know Him.

After each of the questions (they are chapters in the book), there is a page or two that discusses why the question and answer matters in life. These responses are written by people other than the primary authors.

Here are some examples of the questions that are asked and answered in this book…

• Is faith irrational?
• Are science and christianity at odds?
• Are miracles possible?
• How did the universe begin?
• Is God just a human invention?
• Is religion dangerous?
• Does God intend for us to keep slaves?
• Is God a bully?
• Can people be good without God?
• What good is Christianity?
• Why Jesus instead of the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

I’ve got to be honest. There were some of the answers to questions that I had to think about for quite a while. Especially the ones that delved into philosophical questions and arguments. But, reading and re-reading usually allowed me to follow the line of thought.

Let me ask *you* a question. Do you struggle with some of these questions? Do you wonder about God and why/if there is a God? You are not alone. Pick up a copy of this book and read it. Do this with an attitude of searching for the truth. You will be challenged by this book, if not convinced.

Yes, I heartily recommend this book. It will give you something to think about.
