Read Mark 7

Have you ever felt that religion is just a set of rules you have to follow? Have you ever had “rules” and been surprised when another person didn’t follow them?

In this chapter, the Pharisees had a set of rules that Jesus did not require his disciples to follow.

• What were the Pharisees upset about?
• How did Jesus respond to them?
• Describe the difference between inner purity and outer purity

Later, we see a woman who had great faith approach Jesus about casting out a demon from her daughter.

• What was Jesus’ response to the woman?
• How did the woman reply?
• What can we learn from this?

Finally, Jesus heals a deaf man

• Why did Jesus tell the crowd not to tell anyone?
• How did the crowd respond?

Jesus did some amazing things in this chapter. This was all done to show that Jesus is indeed the Son of God!

They were completely amazed and said again and again, “Everything he does is wonderful…” -v37
