Read Proverbs 6
Now, read it again. Pay close attention to the very specific advice that is being given in this chapter. There are four main ideas presented
Verses 1-5 talk about indebtedness for friends
Verses 6-11 compares diligent work and laziness
Verses 12-19 address worthless people
Verses 20-35 deal with wisdom and immorality
Here are some things to think about…
- What is the main point about “security for a friend’s debt”? Why would it say that you are trapped?
- Think about ants (yes, the insects!) for a bit. Why are they used as the example of benefits of diligent work?
- There is a list of seven things the Lord hates. Do any of those surprise you?
- Describe the ways that a father’s commands and a mother’s instruction will keep you from the immoral woman.
Almost everyone can relate to one of the major topics in this chapter. Consider how you think the Lord would have you make changes to live according to wisdom. Ask Him to give you the determination and strength to change.
Don’t put it off; do it now! -v4
