July 18, 2016 – Psalm 101

Read Psalm 101

As you were reading this short chapter, I hope that you noticed how often David says “I will”. Count them. This is a very personal psalm, where David is sharing with us his determinations for life with respect to the Lord, himself and others.

David says that he will sing of two characteristics of the Lord (v1). What are those two things? How would you describe the Lord’s love and justice?

David’s personal commitments are listed in vv 2-4. He starts out stating that he will be careful to live a blameless life. What does it mean to be “blameless”?

Commitments related to others are listed in vv 5-8. What are some of the things that David will not tolerate or allow? What does David search for? Why is this important?

As you reflect on your own life, is there anything David is determined to do that you should also? Pray that the Lord would show you how to life a blameless life.

I will be careful to live a blameless life. -v2
